I love Barbara Kingsolver. And like her other books this one takes you on a ride that you cannot get off…but that there are moments you wish you’d never gotten started. The story of the blight of opioids in Appalachia is painful and real. And she doesn’t shy away from it. At one point I was so disappointed in the main character that I had to put the book down. But that’s what people do in the lives of those who fall into this sort of pain and crisis. So I finished…and I’m so glad I did.
