Five Golden Rings: Following the Star

Readings: Psalm 20; Jeremiah 31:15-22; Luke 19:41-44

For the Lord will cause something new to happen (Jeremiah 31:22a)

The baby has been born. He is healthy and his mother is healing. And in the east, a Star…shines brightly…guiding the Magi towards the prophecy that they have been drawn to from their homeland. star-of-bethlehem2

A new thought. A new idea. A new promise. A new vision.

All of it worth a journey…a treacherous journey…towards the Christ child and the hope of his birth.

As I think of these men on their journey to bring gifts to the Baby Jesus, I am comforted that they knew they were headed somewhere to see something amazing, but their journey was also marked but so much unknown. What would they find at the end of that star?

With 2016 coming to an end, I turn my attention to 2017. To planning. To dreaming. To hoping. To a vision for my life as I would like to see it made manifest in the new year.

May he grant your heart’s desires
and make all your plans succeed.
May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory
and raise a victory banner in the name of our God.
May the Lord answer all your prayers. (Psalm 20: 4-5)

I don’t know what I don’t know. And the journey might be treacherous…Lord, knows it has been thus far at times. But I believe in the new thought, the new idea, the new promise, the new vision.

I am hopeful for Joy, Light, Love, and Freedom to be in abundance as I seek the dream at the end of the star.

And I am hopeful for the same in abundance for you my friend.

xoxo
