Hearing Voices – Overcoming Limiting Beliefs and Expressing Yourself

Have you ever felt like there’s something holding you back from truly expressing yourself? That something may be a limiting belief. Limiting beliefs are those negative thoughts and perceptions that hold us back from fully embracing our voice. They are often formed based on past experiences, societal expectations, or fear of judgment.

Do you have any thoughts or beliefs that consistently undermine your confidence or make you doubt the value of your voice? Identifying these beliefs is the first step towards breaking free and finding your unique voice.

To uncover your limiting beliefs, grab a pen and paper, and start journaling.
Write down any thoughts or beliefs that come to mind when you think about expressing yourself. These may include statements like, “I’m not good enough,” “Nobody cares about what I have to say,” or “I’ll be judged if I speak up.”

As you review your list, you may notice common themes or recurring patterns. These are the areas where your limiting beliefs are most prominent. Acknowledging these beliefs is a powerful step towards challenging and overcoming them.

You may be saying…”Okay Leah…now what?”

Well…now that you’ve identified your limiting beliefs, it’s time to challenge them head-on. Remember, these beliefs are not absolute truths. They are simply perceptions that can be reshaped. A couple ways to tackle changing these thoughts…

  1. Reframing: Take each limiting belief and reframe it into an empowering statement. For example, if you wrote, “I’m not good enough,” reframe it as, “I am constantly growing and learning, and my unique voice matters.”
  2. Empowering Affirmations: Create positive affirmations that counter your limiting beliefs. Write down statements that emphasize your strengths, uniqueness, and the value of your voice. Repeat these affirmations daily to reinforce your new empowering beliefs.
  3. Visualization: Close your eyes and visualize yourself confidently expressing your thoughts and ideas. Imagine the positive impact your voice can have on others. Embrace the emotions of self-assurance and empowerment as you visualize yourself breaking free from your limiting beliefs.

While it can be tricky, challenging your limiting beliefs is a transformative process, but it requires action. Remember that personal growth takes time and effort. Be patient with yourself and celebrate each milestone along the way.
