When your favorite author…the person who you most wish you could write like and were friends with…writes a new book, you read it. Anne Lamott is the voice of my dissent from being a nice girl and a good church girl. She has been giving me (and so many others) permission to be ourselves AND be kind and compassionate for years. She is snarky and anxious, and that’s okay. She is lovely and service oriented, and that’s okay. She teaches Sunday School and still hates W, and that’s okay.
Anne writes the permission slips to be myself that I needed my mom to write.
