Permission Slip: Be Curious

Curiosity is one of my all-time favorite human traits. Few things bring me as much joy as learning something new or having a conversation with others that includes asking and being asked a lot of questions.

Being curious can be a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery. Curiosity helps you gain new insights and perspectives about yourself and the world around you. Give yourself permission to be curious so that you can open the world of possibilities, build resilience and lean into your creativity.

Some actions that you can use to be more curious:

  • Ask questions: Instead of assuming you know everything, ask questions with a goal of learning new information.
  • Try new things: Whether it’s taking up a new hobby or trying a new food, be open to new experiences and see where they take you.
  • Embrace uncertainty: Being curious means being comfortable with not knowing all the answers. Embrace the unknown and see where it leads you.
  • Stay open-minded: Avoid judgment and keep an open mind. Be willing to consider new ideas and perspectives, even if they challenge your existing beliefs.

Learning to say “I don’t know” or “I’m not sure” can be so freeing. And with that freedom comes more room for curiosity.
